On Tuesday June 3, 2008 IT personnel representing all schools, departments and UPI’s at UMB, met to share information regarding current IT activities. Chief Information Officer, Peter Murray, Ph.D. presided over the meeting, which meets regularly to assess university needs.
Updates and future plans were given for all sectors at the University; however, the most significant change to the campus community is the implementation of a common login. Faculty, staff/administration and student, are all required to use multiple online domains such as Webmail, Blackboard, SURFS, and portal; each requiring separate user logins and passwords. The IT community at UMB is working furiously to rectify this situation and substantial progress has been made.
CITS is also working on a solution to increase the storage space for campus email. The IT department is currently looking to outsource campus email to larger engines such as Microsoft or Google.
